Healthy Skin is a Choice

Healthy Skin is a Choice

Have you ever overindulged in an expensive outfit? Maybe spent too much on shoes? If I had to choose between an expensive outfit or quality skincare products, my skin would win. I choose to invest in quality skincare because the skin is the body's largest organ and has the ability to absorb chemicals.

It is estimated that the skin absorbs over 60% of applied chemicals. There is controversy and speculation around the exact quantity the skin absorbs and the resulting effects on the body. Without turning this into a dissertation, lets agree that our skin does absorb to a certain extent and consider a few examples. Some medical skin (transdermal) patches are designed to deliver a dose of medication through the skin and directly into the bloodstream. Nicotine and pain patches are also applied to the skin with the full intent to administer medication into the body. Another example of skin absorption are the occupational skin diseases workers commonly acquire due to hazardous chemical exposure. Since it's clear our skin absorbs chemicals, I believe it's important to consider skincare products that are certified-organic.

Certified-organic skincare products have undergone a rigorous third-party verification process ensuring products contain 95% (or more) organic ingredients and are grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. I'll choose certified-organic skincare products and I'll pass on the designer shoes, for now.

Wild Chick Organics products are always certified-organic, 100% plant-based, vegan and cruelty free.
